Hollow Cast Bronze Toby Figure Reading a Comic Sculpture
Introducing the charming Toby Reading a Comic hollow cast bronze sculpture, created by the late bronze artist John Cox of Escar UK Bronze
This delightful sculpture captures Toby enjoying a quiet moment of childhood relaxation, seated on the ground with one arm casually stretched behind him while absorbed in reading his favourite comic. Expertly sculpted with remarkable attention to detail, the figure conveys a wonderful sense of character, from his relaxed pose and expressive features to the carefully rendered clothing and comic he holds
Created using the traditional Lost Wax Bronze Casting Method, this hollow cast bronze sculpture showcases the exceptional craftsmanship, precision and attention to detail that became synonymous with John Cox’s work at Escar UK Bronze
Finished with an attractive combination of brown, blue and skin tones patination, the carefully applied colours enhance the textures and details of the sculpture, adding depth, warmth and personality to this engaging work of bronze art
Measuring approximately 60cm high x 100cm wide x 54cm deep and weighing around 38 kilos, the Bronze Toby Reading a Comic Sculpture makes an impressive addition to homes, gardens, patios, galleries or private collections
A beautiful celebration of childhood imagination and timeless bronze craftsmanship, Toby Reading a Comic brings charm, character and a nostalgic sense of wonder to any setting
What does Toby’s comic add to the story of this Bronze Reading Figure?
Toby’s comic makes the scene specifically about a child’s relaxed enjoyment of reading. It gives his absorbed expression and seated posture a clear focus, suggesting a story continuing beyond the bronze figure. Displaying him near Hannah creates a companion scene of two children occupied with their own reading
