Pegasus Winged Horse : Spirit of Freedom
Hollow Cast Bronze Pegasus Winged Horse Sculpture
Introducing The Spirit of Freedom, a magnificent hollow cast bronze Pegasus Winged Horse sculpture created by bronze artist John Cox of Escar UK Bronze
This impressive life-size sculpture is inspired by the celebrated zinc-cast winged horse that stands proudly within the magnificent Italianate Gardens of the Powerscourt Estate in Enniskerry, Republic of Ireland. Beautifully reimagined in bronze, John’s interpretation captures the strength, grace and timeless symbolism of the mythical Pegasus
Expertly crafted using the traditional Lost Wax Bronze Casting method, this exceptional sculpture showcases the remarkable attention to detail for which Escar UK Bronze is renowned. Every flowing muscle, finely sculpted feather and elegant contour has been carefully modelled to create a truly breathtaking work of bronze art
Finished with a subtle light and dark brown patination, the carefully applied colouring enhances the depth, movement and realism of the sculpture, bringing the majestic winged horse vividly to life
Standing approximately 2.70m high, 1.65m wide and 2.35m deep, and weighing around 480 kilos, The Spirit of Freedom is an outstanding centrepiece for grand gardens, estates, hotels and prestigious public spaces
Representing strength, freedom and aspiration, this magnificent bronze Pegasus is a timeless sculpture that combines classical inspiration with exceptional craftsmanship, creating a dramatic focal point wherever it is displayed
How do the wings contribute to the Spirit of Freedom Pegasus sculpture?
The wings transform the powerful horse into Pegasus and extend the composition upwards and outwards, suggesting flight and freedom. Their detailed surfaces contrast with the muscular body beneath them. This life-size sculpture is approximately 2.70m high, so a spacious setting is essential to appreciate the complete winged outline
