Description

Bronze Art Mask Sculpture

Contemporary Bronze Decorative Art Mask Sculpture

The Escar Art Mask Sculpture is a distinctive solid cast bronze artwork inspired by an original clay sculpture created in 1973 by Leslie Charles Morrish (1923–2008). Bold in both design and character, this unique piece celebrates artistic creativity, while demonstrating how an original work created in a different medium, can be faithfully preserved in bronze

Originally modelled during a local pottery class, the expressive mask quickly attracted attention for its imaginative styling and striking features. Recognising its artistic merit, the original clay sculpture was carefully moulded and reproduced using the Solid Bronze Casting Method, allowing the artwork to be enjoyed and appreciated for generations to come

Every contour and facial detail has been faithfully captured, preserving the character and individuality of Les Morrish’s original design. Finished with a rich brown patination, the solid bronze surface enhances the depth, texture and sculptural quality of the piece, while reflecting the exceptional craftsmanship involved in its creation

Measuring approximately 25cm high, 15cm wide, 10cm deep, and weighing around 1.75 kilos, the Escar Art Mask Sculpture is ideally suited for display in the home, office, studio or gallery. A solid bronze hanging loop is incorporated into the reverse, allowing the sculpture to be securely wall-mounted, and appreciated as a distinctive work of bronze art

More than simply a decorative bronze sculpture, the Escar Art Mask preserves the creativity and vision of Leslie Morrish in a timeless medium. It transforms an original clay study into a lasting work of bronze art, that continues to attract admiration through its distinctive design, artistic heritage and handcrafted character

Who created the Escar Bronze Art Mask Sculpture?

Leslie Charles Morrish created the original Escar Art Mask in clay in 1973. That design is reproduced here in solid cast bronze, and finished with a brown patina that brings out the expressive contours. The approximately 25cm-high mask includes a hanging loop for wall display, retaining the original artwork’s personal character in a different material
