Escar UK Bronze was founded in 2001 after John Cox decided to see if he could turn his life long hobby of sculpting into a viable and successful business
John, born in Dagenham Essex was introduced to the art of woodwork by his grandfather, a master joiner, carver and restorer
Under his guidance, John developed early skills in traditional joinery, veneer application, marquetry and French polishing
These skills allowed him to excel in shaping wood, metal and other materials, into original and captivating sculptures
Throughout his life John engaged with various forms of art, but it was only later that he began to pursue sculpture commercially
Since then, Escar UK Bronze has become one of the leading producers and retailers of bronze statues and sculptures in the UK, being particularly recognised for realistic and finely detailed life-size bronze statues of figures, wild animals and birds
Sadly it was to be a short career as John passed away in 2014 at the relatively young age of 62, following a short and unexpected illness
Thankfully his legacy lives on through his wife Joy and their daughter Jayne, who using the foundation of his original designs, continue to add to the portfolio of his original work
Together, they have taken on numerous commissions, including the renowned sculpture of the late Lord Montagu which stands at the entrance of the National Motor Museum, Beaulieu, Hampshire, England and the acclaimed fictional character Thomas Shelby, from the successful TV series Peaky Blinders
Another area that showcases their expertise are their stunning bronze life studies of wild animals and they are particularly proud to be associated with the Elephant Rescue Foundation located in Chiang Rai, Northern Thailand
